Sojourning Sunrisers & Finn!

Our travelers included Jessica McKnight (who took in some plays and did some camping), Terri Clark (who traveled to Australia to celebrate her goddaughter’s wedding), Claire Ajina (who went to Santa Barbara), and Maggie Kraft (whose driving trip with her niece spanned 1,200 miles, which included Santa Cruz and her high school reunion).
We also welcomed Finn Grewe, our Inbound Rotary Exchange Student from Germany, and President Ray showed a video of Finn arriving at our airport, where he was warmly greeted by many Sunrisers.

Do What Matters – Committee Reports

Sergeant At Arms Committee:

Nick Torres leads the Sergeant At Arms Committee, and he provided a brief description of what his group does – each week and when we go on the road. They can always use a few additional hands, so consider joining them!

Interact/Rotaract Committee:

The co-chairs of the Interact/Rotaract Committee are Ashliegh Diehl and Nick Torres. Nick led off, telling us how we can support the Interact Club at Arcata High School. Mostly, that involves showing up for their meetings on Fridays at 12:20 pm. They are a great group of self starters.
Ashliegh reminded us that our Club sponsors the North Bay Rotaract Club, which meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays in the Plaza Grill Room at Jacoby’s Storehouse. The group wants to work more closely with our Club, and it would help to have Sunrisers at their meetings.

Seeking Racial and Social Equity

Our Featured Speaker was Ron White, the Leadership Program Manager for the Humboldt Area Foundation. Ron spoke with us about the Equity Alliance – an HAF program that works toward increasing our understanding of racial and social equity through education, workshops, and other means.
