Sojourning Sunrisers / Special Daze / Recognition!
Our Sojourning Sunrisers included Kayla Johnston and (after a slight birthday delay) Tomas Chavez. In the midst of that, we celebrated Bryan Plumley’s birthday, and then the anniversary of Craig and Janice Newman! The clip wraps up with our Recognition of Randy Mendosa, which also involved Arcata High School and the Arcata Arts Institute!
About the AHS Career & College Center
With the annual AHS Career & College Center Breakfast Fundraiser coming on March 3rd, Allie Lucchesi provided an inspiring testimonial about their services. Sunriser Jeff Stebbins told us that sponsorships for the event start at $150; please contact him if you are interested.
But please be sure to be there at the Arcata High School Fine Arts Building between 8 and 11 am on March 3rd to support this otherwise unfunded program.
Izzy’s Week!
Our Exchange Student Izzy told us that in her home country of Austria, Christmas does not end until Epiphany – January 6th. (The tradition is also celebrated in parts of Germany and Switzerland.)
Doorways are sprinkled with holy water, and people dress as the Three Kings, or the Magi.
Gregg Foster Gives a Direct (Flights) Talk
Gregg Foster discussed the recent news that United Airlines will be starting direct flights from Humboldt to Los Angeles (and back)!
Mad River Alliance
Dave Feral and Lynn Jones of the Mad River Alliance were our Featured Speakers. The Alliance was formed in 2011, and it is a “community-driven group organized to protect clean water and ecological integrity of the Mad River Watershed.”
“I’ve got the whole meeting in my head!”
