  • July 24 – Rotary Day at the Arcata Ballpark!
  • August 13-14  – RCAS Sunrise Summer Sale

For Openers …

You don’t have to “Imagine” President Vanessa any longer – ’cause now, she’s the Boss! And her debut meeting was great fun! We opened with Past President Ian presenting the President’s Pin to his successor, then Terri Clark helped introduce Vanessa’s Board of Directors and Officers, providing pins to each.

Randy Mendosa informed us that the Arcata Fire Department is providing free rural address signs on request from those in its service area. The reflective signs can help first responders find your home more quickly in an emergency.

Carol Vander Meer told us that the new Vance Avenue Parklet would be inaugurated with a “Planting Party”, the day after our meeting.

And Rebecca Crow asked us to save the dates of August 13th and 14th (Saturday and Sunday) for our annual RCAS Sunrise Summer Sale. Also, please gather up your gently-used treasures for the event.

President Vanessa noted that we’ve been dark for a few weeks, so she caught us up on some birthdays and anniversaries from June. Carol Vander Meer told us about her birthday adventure – overnighting in a lovely quiet campground. Marty Lay overcame his broken leg to have a good birthday. And Chris Hemphill was telling us about Lisa Hemphill’s birthday when Lisa unmuted to chime in from Zoom. Chris still got the last word … this time, anyway.

Welcome Pat Knittel!

At the July 8, 2022 RCAS Meeting, we welcomed our newest Sunriser – Pat Knittel. Pat is the owner of North Story Wines and Wrangletown Cider, and her husband, Ben Jain, was on hand for her induction. Pat’s membership was sponsored by Terri Clark, and Former RCAS President AJ Gonzales welcomed her into the Club. As is our tradition, we lined up and shook hands (with more than a few hugs) with Pat.

Committee Fair

President Vanessa had asked her Committee Chairs to set up a “Committee Fair” – in a fashion similar to a science fair – where each of our committees could highlight aspects of their work. Sunrisers were encouraged to wander from display to display, asking questions and determining where their interests and talents would find the best matches.
