Mozara Returns!

Mozara Abdalla – our 2014-2015 Exchange Student from Brazil – visited our Club last week. She brought us up to date, letting us know that she is well on her way to a career in the law. It was great to see her smiling face, and we learned another Portuguese phrase!

“Our Speaker is YOU!”

Our Club Meeting was very revealing. As President Ray put it, “Our Speaker is YOU!” So we heard interesting bits and pieces from several Sunrisers – about their anniversaries and/or birthdays, recent career changes, and much more.

President Ray starts things out in this first segment, talking about items such as the Bigfoot Taproom. He then called upon Ms. Recognitions herself – JOYC, who had news about her daughters Kayla and Lacey.

Carol Vander Meer talked about the many roles she has been called upon to play recently, and Steve McHaney told us about winning the “Civil Engineer of the Year” award!

Ian Schatz starts off off the second segment with a discussion of Rotary Exchange Students, an award received by Advanced Security, and … kayaks! Brandon Kakitsuka told us that right now, his life pretty much revolves around his son, Maverick.

Andreas Krause and Maggie Kraft both attended the recent Rotary International Convention in Hamburg, Germany, and they talked about their adventures.

Closing this segment is Jessica McKnight, who told us about her tour through the Southwest.

Our final segment sees President Ray chatting with an”Unsung Hero” – Sergeant-At-Arms Nick Torres.

Then Randy Mendosa talked about his anniversary and becoming a member of the Board of Directors for the Arcata Fire District.

Jennifer Coriell said that she and her husband Bryn recently celebrated their 10th anniversary. She also said that she is doing a summertime transition – from high school teacher to swim team mom.

Sarah James had her own recent transition – switching careers! Her daughter also graduated, and she adopted a puppy!

If you want to prepare for your wedding Rachel Damme-style, you need to head for Nashville for your bachelorette party. Just sayin’.

And Lori Breyer has also been busy – as a student taking a tech class at Sonoma State, and as an instructor teaching a course at Humboldt State. Still, she managed to peel away long enough to travel to Europe, taking a cruise on the Douro River.
