Sojourning Sunrisers, Special Daze, and Events
Our Soujourning Sunrisers included Tomas Chavez, who hit up Long Beach; Jessica McKnight, who was in Seattle for a memorial service; Terri Clark, whose itinerary took her through San Francisco; and Brandi Easter.
We heard about the renovation of Little House A, one of the structures used by the Manila Family Resource Center. Most of the work was performed by Master Painter Bob Johnson.
And our Special Daze segment celebrated Julie Vaissade-Elcock, whose May 8th birthday becomes a family affair each year, with a multi-birthday cluster and Mother’s Day combines for a very festive event!

Brett Wilson is the Newest Sunriser!!
We minted another new Sunriser at our May 11, 2018 meeting. Brett Watson is the owner of Humboldt Manufacturing and a member of the Arcata City Council. He was sponsored for membership by Susan Diehl-McCarthy. Welcome, Brett!
Saving the Red Abalone
Sunriser Brandi Easter was our Featured Speaker for the May 11, 2018 RCAS meeting, and she spoke with us about causes of the dwindling red abalone population off the California coast. Brandi also told us what the State Fish and Game Commission has been doing in their attempts to reverse the decline.
