Sunrise Briefs

  • We heard from one Sojourning Sunriser (Terri Clark), who talked about the emotional impact of attending the Foundation Dinner South, and she also shared her recent theater experience.
  • President Dustin would like you to forward your holiday photos to him; he plans to show them at our coming meetings.
  • We also received updates on coming events, including this week’s “Friendsgiving” event, hosted by the North Bay Rotaract Club. There was also news about Thursday’s Taste of the Holidays, the Foundation/Membership Seminar and the Foundation Dinner, Christmas Caroling, the Arcata Invitational Basketball Tournament, and our upcoming November/December Board Meeting, which will take place Monday, November 20th at 7 am at Umpqua Bank’s Arcata Store.

The Historic Arcata Veterans Memorial Building

Both American Legion Post 274 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2542 call the Arcata Veterans Memorial Building home. Jeff Sterling, Commander of Post 274, told us about the building’s history, and the efforts underway to restore it. He then took us on a tour, which included some areas you may not be familiar with, including the Scout Room and the Veterans’ Canteen.

“I’ve got the whole meeting in my head!”
