What Has Thomas Been Up To?

Thomas Spengler (our Rotary Exchange Student from France) said that his week included surfing. We also saw evidence of a Marshmallow Flambe on the beach at sunset. Thomas also told us about enjoying dinner with friends in Eureka.

Announcements and Recognitions

Our meeting included reports from the the previous weekend’s Out of the Darkness Suicide Awareness/Prevention Walk. We also heard about the quest that Bob Johnson and Tomas Chavez undertook to find the elusive “Bob Moore“. (Spoiler Alert – they were successful.)
Distrcit Governor Nominee Dustin Littlefield talked about the four-day training he recently attended, and Howard Stauffer told us about the status of the schools we are helping to build in Pakistan’s Swat Valley.
There was information about coming events, including our fundraiser, “A Taste of Guatemala“, which will take place on Friday, September 27th.

The Economics of the Cannabis Industry

Our Guest Speaker was Michael Kraft. He has presented at our Club before, but in his prior “incarnation”, working for Sequoia Personnel Services and liaising with the County on workforce development issues. He is now a Senior Project Manager with Papa & Barkley’s, which is a Eureka-based cannabis company that produces extracts, topicals, and tinctures designed for relief from everyday aches and pains.

Michael discussed the economic impact of the cannabis industry on the local economy.

Don’t miss a minute!
