Sunrise Moments
Former President Howard Stauffer led our meeting, as President Susan was unable to attend …
The Judy Report: Our Rotary Exchange Student from Taiwan, Chen Yi (Judy) Ting told us about her week:
Rotary Training Assembly: Several Sunrisers attended the recent District 5130 Training Assembly in Ukiah, and President-Elect Dustin Littlefield said it was great. He said that they all learned a lot about Rotary, and had a lot of fun.
In Steve’s Memory: Sunriser Rina Brodhag told us more about the golf tournament dedicated to her late husband Steve. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Southwest Eureka, which decided to host a golf fundraiser to honor Steve’s memory. The event will take place at Baywood Golf and Country Club on Friday, June 2nd. Rina said that Steve loved to golf. She also said that one of the holes will feature Steve’s favorite drink – shots of Crown Royal. Please contact Emanuel Rose to participate. We hope to field multiple teams from our Club.
Special Daze: Nick Torres’s birthday was Sunday, April 2nd, and he told us that he celebrated by laying down on his couch. “I was tired,” he said, “after doing the District Assembly and all that traveling.”
Chris Hemphill said that he is anticipating that the town will throw a big party in honor of his birthday, which is April 20th. He doesn’t have all the details at this time. (We just hope that his plans don’t go up in smoke.)
Barbara Browning’s April birthday will be here on April 23rd, but she won’t be – she is planning a retreat. Her organization rents a house in the Crescent City area, and she will be celebrating quietly there with her husband Ron and a few friends.
Claire and Haider Ajina celebrated their 32nd anniversary on April 6th, the day before our meeting. Claire said that she was working that evening, but that they planned to go out over the weekend to do some real celebrating.
