Recognitions, Including Sojourning Sunrisers and Special Daze
The only Sojourning Sunriser in the house was Crystal Perez, but her trip was a-mazing! She won a trip to New Zealand, and she made good on it!
We also recognized Ed Christians for winning the Best Customer Service Award from the McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce (along with the rest of Coast Central Credit Union); and Gregg Foster, for being a “Shaggin’ Aggie” (in heels)!
Our Special Daze included a report on the April 5th anniversary of Lori & Dave Breyer and the exciting recap of Nick Torres’s birthday on April 2nd.
Izzy’s Week
Although Exchange Student Izzy Orsach was unable to attend our meeting due to illness, Steve McHaney served as her proxy. Steve said that Izzy’s aunt and uncle were in town, and their tour of our local delights included Dick Taylor Chocolates!
Playhouse Arts and Arcata’s Creamery District
Our Featured Speaker was Jackie Dandeneau, the Executive Director of Playhouse Arts, which is best known for running the Arcata Playhouse. Jackie talked a bit about the Playhouse and her nonprofit’s other programs, but the main thrust of her presentation was the state of the Arcata Creamery District, which (for now) is part of Playhouse Arts.
