Izzy’s Week
Exchange Student Izzy had a 3-day weekend, which involved a friend … and a dog!
Encouraging Kids to Read!
Vicki Whiting is a member of the Rotary Club of Sonoma Valley, and she wants kids to love reading. She founded “Kid Scoop” – a weekly feature page that is published in newspapers around the U.S. She also produces a local version that our Club distributes as part of the Backpacks for Kids program. She spoke to us about the project and her goals for expansion.
World Community Service Committee Report
Maggie Kraft provided a report from the World Community Service Committee.
The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month, and they would welcome new members!
Rotaract Meets Rotaplast!!
Sophie Saucedo is the 2017-2018 President of the North Bay Rotaract Club, and she frequently attends our Club meetings. Last fall, she volunteered to travel to Agra, India to participate in a Rotaplast mission.
Rotaplast is a Rotary-sponsored program that provides free reconstructive cleft-palate operations and treatment for children in need throughout the world. The surgeries are life-changing for these young people.
Sophie provided our Club with an overview of the program, and then she talked about her experience in Agra.
“I’ve got the whole meeting in my head!”
