Recognitions

President AJ thanked Dustin Littlefield for filling in as Acting President at our previous meeting. AJ also told us that his vacation was fun – he visited Smith Rock State Park in Oregon, and he got to visit with family.

We received a thank-you letter from State Senator Mike McGuire, which was explained by Sunriser Steve McHaney.

We raised a glass to toast the wedding of Jesse Hinton and Sunriser Malinda Damme, which was scheduled for the following day.

Finally, President AJ noted that the renovation of Rotary Park on South G Street “didn’t take long at all”. Check out the video, and you’ll see what he means!

The Club, the Community Foundation,
and the Rotary Foundation

President AJ discussed the differences among three of the organizations to which we belong – the Rotary Club of Arcata Sunrise, the RCAS Community Foundation, and the Rotary Foundation. He also tipped the hat to Terri Clark and Scott Heller for donating a bunch of Rotary Foundation Recognition Points to enable all of the members of our Club to become Paul Harris Fellows!

The Fantastic Foundation Final Friday Auction

Once again, we held a Foundation Final Friday Auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Rotary Foundation. Half of the credit goes to the person who donates the auction item, the other half goes to the winning bidder. Steve McHaney started things off by donating $100. Just because.

The first item on the block had a … unique … introduction, as you will see:

Tom Tellez’s Eureka Theatre package was purchased by Patti Britt Campbell. Here are the results from the rest of the auction:

  • Claire Ajina donated two bottles of wine (always popular with Sunrisers). President AJ cast the winning bid.
  • Romi Hitchcock Tinseth offered an HSU Welcome Package, which included a bobblehead lumberjack and a glass redwood. Brandon Kakitsuka won the auction, but allowed Terri Clark to take home the redwood when she matched his winning bid!
  • Our last item of the day was a large Japanese maple tree, donated by Maggie Kraft. The winners were Chris and Lisa Hemphill.

Congratulations and thanks to all who contributed to the auction!

Don’t miss a minute!
