Sunrise Moments

The Judy Report: This week’s Judy Report includes her experiences as a member of this year’s winning team in the Kinetic Grand Championship!

Thanks to … well, Everyone! President Susan started out by thanking President-Elect Dustin Littlefield and President-Elect Designate Ray Noggle for putting in the hours needed to allow our Club to apply for Rotary Global Grants next year. But as you will see in the video, she didn’t stop there …

Vocational Service Award

As Former Club President Jessica McKnight reminds us in the following video, Rotary’s roots are in our vocations. And the candidates for Vocational Service Awards are those who exemplify the ideals of Rotary in their businesses – even though they are not Rotarians. (Jessica always adds the word “yet” to that statement.)

Our latest recipient is one of the founding owners of Los Bagels, Dennis Rael. Dennis was nominated by Sunriser Ian Schatz, who saw how Dennis approaches his business and gives to his community. Here is the award presentation.

New Ideas to Help Small Nonprofits/NGOs

In the 2013-2014  Rotary Year, our Club sponsored Logan White as a Rotary Exchange Student to Italy. Since his return, he has continued his international involvement as he pursues his college degree. He and his colleague Matthew Cendejas spoke at our June 2, 2017 meeting to discuss their ideas for “Updating How We Give” to small nonprofits and NGOs.

For more information, you can contact Logan at lwhite8@ucmerced.edu. Matthew’s email address is inspireone.matt@gmail.com

Rotary Friendship Exchange

Earlier this year, Sunriser Steve McHaney and his wife Patty participated in a Rotary Friendship Exchange trip to Gujarat, India, and they welcomed by their hosts with exceptional warmth. When the Indian RFE team arrived in District 5130, Steve and Patty were very pleased to offer a place in their home for Mihir and Devangi Modi. Here are both couples, along with Exchange Student Judy, at our meeting:
