Meeting the AHS Top Ten Percent

One of our Club’s favorite meetings of each year is our recognition of the top academic achievers from Arcata High School. We welcomed AHS Principal Dave Navarre, who introduced each of the students with his memories of their years at the school. Mr. Navarre also conveyed the students special messages, mostly thank yous to their parents and others who helped them achieve excellence (and astronomical grade point averages).

RCAS Memorial Scholarships for 2019

Scholarship Committee Chair Bryan Plumley presented the 2019 RCAS Memorial Scholarships at our meeting on June 7, 2019 on behalf of our Club. Those receiving one-time $500 scholarships were Lavender Weburg, Karsen Coehlo, Sky Pinto, and Claire Monge. $1,000 one-time scholarships were awarded to Olivia Gerving, Coco Rael, Annika Mauro, and Nina Crossen.

The coveted $1,500 recurring scholarship was presented to Keelyn David. As she continues her academic career, Keelyn will continue to receive $1,500 each year for up to three additional years.

Our Club congratulates all nine winners, and we wish them all the best as they pursue their continued education.

Words of Wisdom from Superintendent Chris Hartley

Our Featured Speaker, Chris Hartley, is the Humboldt County Superintendent of Schools, and he began by congratulating the graduating seniors. And as he did, he reminded them that they have received a lot of support from the faculties and staffs of the schools they have attended, suggesting that the students spread a few “thank yous” around in their last days on campus.
