RISE: “Rotary Involvement Strengthens Everyone

Thursday, October 17 – 10th Annual RCAS K-12 Cross Country Championships at the Arcata Community Center
Monday, October 21 – RCAS Make-up Monday at the Griffin! (The third Monday of each month) 4 to 6 pm.
Friday, October 25 – 8th Annual Spirits & Spirits Tour of Haunted Old Town Eureka – The RCAS tour is scheduled for 9 pm, so be sure to get your tickets before it sells out!
Saturday, October 26 – Rotary Foundation Dinner North at the Sequoia Conference Center in Eureka 5 – 9 pm
Friday, November 1 – Rotary Halloween Party at Wallace & Hinz in Blue Lake 7 – 11 pm
Friday, December 13 – RCAS Caroling on the Plaza for Arts Arcata
January 17-18, 2020 – “Peace Starts With You” – the Rotary International Peace Conference in Ontario, California.

Additional Important Stuff

The Arcata High School Interact Club meets every Friday at 12:20 pm during the school year.
The North Bay Rotaract Club meets in the Plaza View Room at Jacoby’s Storehouse at 6 pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.


 Welcome Michael Pazeian!

We added to our roster at the RCAS Meeting on October 11, 2019 – Michael Pazeian, a writer and educator who supervises student teachers at Humboldt State University. Prior to coming to HSU, he taught history at Los Alamitos High School in Southern California from 1985 to 2013.
We’re glad to have you with us, Michael!

What Has Thomas Been Up To?

Rotary Exchange Student Thomas Spengler told us that he recently attended a Eureka Symphony concert. He also took in the Pastels on the Plaza event, and enjoyed pizza!

Announcements & Recognitions

Sophie Saucedo told us the latest from the North Bay Rotaract Club, including the Rotary Halloween Party on November 1st, co-sponsored by RCAS and the Arcata Noon Rotary.

We also heard from members of the Lost Coast Rotaract Club, who invited us to the 8th Annual “Spirits & Spirits” tour of haunted sites in Old Town Eureka.

October 24th is World Polio Day, and Six Rivers Brewery will be serving Pints for Polio that day, with a portion of their proceeds going to the fight to eradicate the disease.

In Sunriser News, we heard about the 37th anniversary of Terri Clark and Marty Lay, and Bob Johnson told us about his family trip down the rapids!

Humboldt Trades Academy Update

Jack Sheppard returned to provide an update on the Humboldt Trades Academy – a program of the Humboldt County Office of Education.
Jack visited us earlier this year, and he came back with additional information plus an informative video.
