What Has Thomas Been Up To?

Our Exchange Student from France – Thomas Spengler – told us about his recent visit to Petaluma, (It apparently included a stop in a hot tub … or a pool!)

Announcements and More!

Our announcements and recognitions started with Sophie Saucedo providing an Interact/Rotaract update. That was followed by President AJ’s announcement that Ian Schatz has been appointed to the Board of Directors as the Community Service Director.

Coming events include pressing apples at Cam Appleton’s home on October 13th, and the Foundation Dinner North, which will take place on October 26th.

We had quite a few “Soujourning Sunrisers” (to borrow a term from Dustin Littlefield’s Presidential Year). These included Terri Clark (Denver and New York City), Jetsetter Gregg Foster (NYC also, with more to follow), Cam Appleton (RV-setter in Oregon & Washington), Lori Breyer (meetings in Sacramento, visit to daughter Megan in Reno), Lisa Hemphill (visiting family in LA, then headed south to Tijuana … and beyond!), Dick Johnson (to Culver City for Jeopardy! audition), Steve McHaney (took son Weston to Cal Poly via Pinnacles National Park), Bryan Plumley (meetings in Arizona, then flew his wife to Scottsdale), and Ian Schatz (hiking the switchbacks of the Devil’s Punchbowl trail in Klamath National Forest). Whew!!

Investing in the Future: First 5 Futures

our Featured Speakers were Wendy Rowan and Siddiq Kilkenny of First 5 Futures. This organization is dedicated to assisting First 5 Humboldt in serving our young children and their families. They encourage donations to the First 5 Humboldt fund at the Humboldt Area Foundation, calling it an “investment” that will pay dividends for years to come.

Don’t miss a minute!
